Privacy Policy

Effective date: April 2026

Docs to PDF (Bulk Convert for Google Drive) (the "Extension") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. What Data We Collect

The Extension collects only the minimum information necessary to provide its core functionality:

  • User identifier (userKey) – a unique, randomly generated identifier stored locally in your browser. It is used to associate OAuth authorization with your Google Drive access.
  • OAuth tokens (access_token, refresh_token, expires_at) – used to access the Google Drive API for reading user-selected files and writing PDFs. These tokens are securely stored on our encrypted backend servers and are associated with your unique user identifier (userKey). The refresh_token allows us to obtain a new access_token when the current one expires, so you don't need to re-authorize frequently.
  • File IDs – the IDs of Google Docs or Word files you explicitly select for conversion. These IDs are processed via our backend API solely to perform the conversion and are not stored.

2. How We Use Data

  • To authenticate you via Google OAuth and authorize access to the files you select.
  • To read the Google Docs or Word files you explicitly choose for conversion.
  • To convert those files to PDF and save them to the Google Drive folder you are currently viewing.
  • To improve performance through local caching (browser storage).

3. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), our legal basis for collecting and using your data is your consent.

4. Data Storage & Security

  • Locally: Your user identifier is cached in your browser using Chrome's chrome.storage.local API. This data stays on your device and can be cleared at any time via browser settings.
  • On our servers: We securely store your OAuth tokens (access_token, refresh_token, expires_at) and associate them with your user identifier (userKey). These tokens are encrypted and used solely to maintain authorized access to your Google Drive for file conversion. File content is never stored on our servers — it is streamed during conversion and not retained. You can revoke our access at any time via your Google Account's "Third-party apps & services" page. Once revoked, our stored tokens become invalid and we can no longer access your Drive.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with any third parties. Your data is used solely to provide the Extension's functionality.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access the data we hold about you
  • Request correction or deletion of your data
  • Withdraw consent at any time
  • Remove locally stored data by clearing your browser's storage or uninstalling the extension

To exercise these rights, contact us at [email protected].

7. Children's Privacy

The Extension is not intended for use by children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. Continued use of the Extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
